Clarithromycin 500mg is used for:

Treating infections caused by certain bacteria.

Clarithromycin 500mg is a macrolide antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of or killing sensitive bacteria by reducing the production of important proteins needed by the bacteria to survive.

Do NOT use Clarithromycin 500mg if:

  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Clarithromycin 500mg or any other macrolide (eg, erythromycin)
  • you are taking cisapride, cyclosporine, dofetilide, eletriptan, ergot alkaloids (eg, ergotamine, dihydroergotamine), H1 antagonists (eg, terfenadine, astemizole), pimozide, QT-prolonging agents (eg, quinidine, sotalol, thioridazine), quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin), or sumatriptan

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Clarithromycin 500mg :
